Where is madurodam in netherlands

The miniatures and their stories come to life in Madurodam. There is much to see, experience and do. Madurodam is highly interactive: you can operate the Oosterscheldekering storm surge barrier yourself, load containers on a cargo ship at the Port of Rotterdam, let an airplane take off from Schiphol airport , and bid on a bunch of flowers at the flower auction house. It contains a replica of the famous De Cruquius steam pumping station.

During a sparkling show, you and other visitors will battle against the water to pump dry the huge Haarlemmermeer lake. Madurodam provides a perfect combination of an amusement park, historical heritage and world-class nature. With more than 5, miniature trees and 55, flower bed plants blossoming all season, the park is known for its scenic beauty.

Ever since the opening in Madurodam has been one of the most iconic places in the Netherlands. It is in the top 5 of the most visited theme parks in the country, and the perfect day out for visitors of all ages. By loading the photos, you accept that Holland. Come visit Madurodam and experience every Dutch highlight in a single interactive park. Madurodam is a miniature park in The Hague that brings the Netherlands to life on a tiny scale.

Using miniature reproductions of famous buildings and notable landmarks and multimedia, Madurodam tells the story of the Netherlands in an interactive manner. Children of all ages will enjoy this attraction. The details of the buildings and all the forms of transport etc.

The landmarks of Holland are exhibited in this interactive miniature park. The plan of the park is set out with full route map in the booklet available at the shop. Do take time to visit and enjoy. This lovely place has a sad history behind it.

George Maduro was a prisoner of war held at Dachau Concentration Camp, where he died of typhus in His parents got the idea of erecting a miniature city in his honor instead of a regular monument, and thus was the start of Madurodam. Plan to spend at least hours here, seriously. There is so much to see. Every single miniature is perfectly in scale, looking exactly like the original building. Inside the miniature Rijksmuseum, for example, if you look inside the windows you will see miniature people looking at a miniature painting a perfect miniature replica of Rembrandt's Nightwatch.

One of my favorite exhibits here is the factory where the little truck goes inside the factory. You hear a lot of banging. Something drops onto the truck, and drives around the loop, barely stopping in front of you. In the bed of the truck is a perfect little miniature pair of delft style painted wooden shoes, with Madurodam written on the side.

It is so worth the one euro to watch the process and get a really cool souvenir besides. There is even a miniature Ajax soccer stadium, a miniature flower bulb fields. Children of all ages will be fascinated. Adults will appreciate it even more. You can walk around again and again, and your eyes will always be surprised with something new. Be sure to pay the euro so you can see the miniature roller coaster in the amusement park. I watched that at least twenty times and was thrilled each and every time.

There is a nice gift shop inside, clean rest rooms, and delicious ice cream. You will love it here. A not to be missed exhibition. Eddie Arizona 36 contributions. This is a fun outdoor museum to spend a couple hours at. Imagine a model railroad on an obsessively vast scope and elaborate detail representing an entire country and that's Madurodam. I think kids would have a good time here -- the main reason we went is that my wife had some good memories of visiting as a small child.

It's been updated with some new exhibits since then, and now it includes a really impressive model of Schipol airport, complete with taxiing planes, moving luggage belts, and various trains, trams and busses coming and going between other exhibits.

I thought the transportation models connecting all the individual exhibits were the coolest part. They have the high-speed bullet train which really whips around, the national trains, trams going around the cities, cars and trucks going along the interstate system, ariel trams, farm tractors and various boats in the shipyards.

It's really easy to get here by tram from Den Haag Centraal station. The tram stops right at the museum. Netherlands in Miniature Form!!! This is a miniature park and tourist attraction in the Scheveningen district of The Hague in the Netherlands.

Replicas are created on a scale of scale Its a good idea for tourists, having a tight leash on their time, to visit this place as the whole of Holland can be enjoyed at one go!!! The amusement park starts with a huge model of the legendary "Hero of Harlem" the myth is about a Dutch boy who saves his country by putting his finger in a leaking dike. The boy stays there all night, despite the cold, until the adults of the village find him and make the necessary repairs The place houses a souvenir shop, a cafe, etc Jim S Singapore, Singapore 21 contributions.

Now to be fair, I must say that some of the models really are beautifully made. It's just a shame that they are not maintained with the same care with which they were created.

Figures lean at listless angles as if sympathising with your suffering, and the leaves of autumn still lay where they fell in miniature courtyards 8 months ago. The water filling the lakes rivers and canals is stagnant, and the fish you can barely see through the browny green murk seem to be praying for death.

Madurodam is a tiny shrine to Dutch nationalistic pride that will be all but inexplicable to ignorant "buitenlanders" foreigners. There is no discernable pattern to the choice of buildings represented, nor the time periods in which they are set. There are modern lorries parked outside 17th century scenes, and the relentless onslaught of Dutch stereotypes clogs, windmills, tulips, cheese, etc. It's then that you start to feel like an intruder at some kind of religious gathering.

We got briefly stuck behind one Dutch man who was cooing "hup Holland hup" to his kids in a deeply disturbing fashion before aggressively grilling his foreign wife about why the Dutch national football team is called "Oranje".

I haven't felt this much of an outsider in the Netherlands since the time I inadvertently visited Volendam during the "tocht van Sinterklaas" the arrival of the Dutch version of Saint Nicholas and his "Black Petes" on a boat from Spain.

To be honest though, my negative feelings about Madurodam are mostly due to the ruinous price of entry. If the Madurodam models were a free feature in the middle of a park I would go back again and take my friends. GPeto Budapest, Hungary contributions. Poorly maintained with big prices. This is a rip off from the moment u enter the 8. U then walk over to notice that a single ticket is 15 EUR. The miniature park is small by size and it is clear to see that most of the models are not cleaned at all.

For instance the mini Schipol airport looks downright disgusting. Also something that I found very strange was the fact that of the young employees was walking around the children smelling pot. This is place is a disgrace. Experience a wonderful day out together in the Madurodam family park. Safe in the open air, fun for big and small. Buy tickets.
