Normal service will resume next week. Cadillac has come a long way in the last 12 years. Before the CTS, the brand was suffering a slow and agonizing demise, exacerbated by the popularity of several European luxury brands.
That first-generation CTS helped pull the iconic American brand upward. For , the second-generation CTS rolled off assembly lines. It was a quantum leap forward in quality, reliability, and even desirability. Now entering its third generation, the Cadillac CTS has again made a quantum leap forward in nearly every imaginable way.
Its exterior carries a futuristic interpretation of the "Art and Science" theme while the interior still features an angular and sophisticated look. Under the hood lies three high-tech engines capable of hustling the 3,pound sedan to 60 mph in roughly six seconds or faster, yet still achieve 30 mpg highway.
The current-gen CTS-V already benefits from tons of horsepower and torque to go along with good dynamics and precise handling. The entire CTS-V lineup, consisting of sedan, coupe and wagon models, charged into without major modifications, with Cadillac hoping to lure customers from BMW or Audi with more horsepower for less bucks.
Only of these cars will be built and sold with a number of exclusive features to complement the host of luxury amenities already offered with the CTS-V Coupe. Despite its old-school looks that are in need of more than just an update, the vehicle is still pretty appealing. Similar to the coupe and sedan versions, the CTS-V Wagon is the kind of vehicle that enthusiasts are likely to fall in line for.
The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe may be long in the tooth, but it still has some surprisingly springy legs, which a testament to how far Cadillac has come in turning this high-powered CTS Coupe into a real luxury sports coupe. For now, though, the CTS-V Coupe trudges on with relatively minor updates since it made its debut in This prestigious award is handed out by a collection of experienced automotive journalists from around the world.
